Dalton Carpet One Floor & Home has been an active contributor to Habitat for Humanity for several years. Staff members put on their hardhats and get their hands dirty for bi-yearly home build projects. Members of our staff contribute to the building of these homes for families in need by working alongside other members of Habitat for Humanity. Dalton Carpet One has participated in several projects and has also donated flooring to these home builds. Dalton Carpet One and our employees enjoy working with this amazing organization and plan to continue working with Habitat for Humanity for many years to come.
The Habitat for Humanity Home Build Projects aim to provide decent and affordable homes all around the world for families in need of a safe, secure, and sturdy place to call home. The Home Build projects strive to not only provide these families with homes that are large enough to support the unique needs of each family, but are affordable for low-income families. The homebuyers work alongside volunteers to build the house they’ve been long awaiting and develop long-lasting relationships with fellow members of their new communities along the way.

Teachers and classrooms are always in need of more supplies, so Dalton Carpet One thought this would be the perfect opportunity to get involved with teachers in our local communities with a Teacher Appreciation Event that started in 2019. Since supplying a classroom can get very expensive, Dalton Carpet One employees provide teachers with gift bags filled with school supplies to get them started for the school year. We also provide teachers with a free cut rug to use in their classrooms and coupons for their next purchase with us. We love getting to meet our local teachers and providing them with goodies for their classroom to show them our appreciation. We are excited to continue to host this annual event to celebrate and support teachers!

Extra Special People is an excellent organization based out of Athens, Georgia that serves children and young adults with developmental disabilities through a number of different programs, events, and community involvement. Dalton Carpet One Floor & Home has partnered up with this amazing organization to host the Extra Special People Java Joy crew at our Athens location on several occasions! Java Joy, a company that works to provide people with disabilities an employment opportunity, came by with their employees to check out our showroom and enjoyed a warm cup of coffee with our staff. Dalton Carpet One has also donated stage flooring and red carpets for various fundraising events for Extra Special People, including their annual Big Hearts Fundraiser.

Dalton Carpet One Floor & Home has been a long-standing supporter of the Stephen Stiller Tunnels to Tower Foundation, an organization that honors the memory of firefighter Stephen Stiller who lost his life on September 11th, 2001. The foundation provides support for military, first responders, and service members through a number of excellent programs and community efforts. Every year, Dalton Carpet One shows their support for this amazing organization by raising awareness and making donations to the foundation. Staff members also enjoy participating in the foundation’s annual Atlanta Tower Climb, where they challenge themselves to climb 72 flights of stairs to commemorate the brave journey first responders made to save countless lives on September 11th. The Atlanta Tower Climb is held annually at the Weston Hotel in Downtown Atlanta.
In 2019, Dalton Carpet One was involved with the latest Smart Home Build with the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. The Foundation builds mortgage-free smart homes for catastrophically injured military and service members throughout the country. Each home is custom designed to address the unique needs of each recipient. These homes enable our most severely injured heroes to live more independent lives at home. Dalton Carpet One had the honor of helping to create a smart home specifically designed for SSgt. Johnny Joey Jones. On August 6, 2010, Jones stepped on and detonated an explosive device while deployed in Afghanistan. This explosion resulted in the loss of both of his legs above the knee and severe damage to his right arm and left wrist. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation paid off the mortgage on his home in Sharpsburg, GA and then began renovations to make his home more accessible, allowing him to live his most independent life. Dalton Carpet One is honored to work with such an amazing foundation.

Each year, both staff and customers donate new, unwrapped toys to these collection boxes so that they can be given to children in need. Project Safe is an organization dedicated to helping those affected by domestic violence. Staff members collect gently used jackets, gloves, hats, and blankets to donate before the arrival of cold weather. We enjoy participating in local events such as Project Safe: Keep Warm to give back to survivors!

DCO employees embrace the spirit of giving by volunteering their time to work at the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia at both their Athens and Gainesville locations. On one of their visits, they worked together to package over 1,100 bags of food that was distributed throughout northeast Georgia to children and families who would have otherwise gone hungry over the holidays! Our employees enjoyed working together as a team and giving back to their community.
